Club/Bar
This cavernous dance emporium, featuring a neon DJ booth, two bars and an elevated platform in the middle of the action, is a premiere destination for hard-core, but good-natured, partying. Shirtless waiters rev up the early crowd with free shots; by night's end, the dancing and the pickup scene are in full gear
Deja Vu 2106 Penn Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4420 (412) 434-1144
Bar/Club
A trendy addition to the Strip District scene, this split-level club is where Steel City social climbers mix and mingle in four separate, chic lounges, as well as on the dance floor. Intimate table seating and leather couches on the first floor lead to spacious meet-and-greet areas upstairs featuring wraparound couches lining red-brick walls. During weekends and early evenings, a tiny sushi bar is open for business; sandwiches and salads are also served
Matrix 7 E Station Square Dr Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (412) 261-2220
Club/Bar
This warehouse-sized dance factory boasts four nightclubs inside--each with its own name, its own bar and its own distinct vibe. Goddess, the hip-hop cabana with the huge dance floor (surrounded by booth seating and J. Lo portraits) is the hands-down favorite, but even the smaller clubs attract regular crowds. Liquid, the techno club, finds ravers dancing ecstatically amid chain-link fences covering the walls; the new-wave Exit, draped in red satin, is the haunt of choice for goths; and the Latin-flavored Velvet may lack a dance floor, but it does have leather sofas and a martini bar
Touch 1408 Smallman St Pittsburgh, PA 15233 (412) 392-0300
Bar/Club
Pittsburgh's club scene goes wildly upscale with this cavernous two-tiered club's tiger-striped carpets, animal artwork and faux palm trees. Three bars serviced by bartenders in black bikini tops cater to prowling 20-somethings dressed to impress. The DJ keeps the dance hits coming as other scantily clad employees gyrate on the bar, inspiring customers to do the same on the dance floor. The upstairs lounge is more low-key, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by couches.
